New Yorkers! You’re Paying Too Much!

Moving to Arizona Can Save You Big!

Hello there, my New Yorker friend! I hope you enjoyed my last article about the three amazing schools we have here in Arizona. Not only do our schools rank high in key areas of education and employment opportunities, our tuition and fees are literally half as much compared to NYU and other New York schools. And that’s not the only thing we’re saving money on.

More and more people are flocking to Phoenix from around the country to take advantage of the big city life while enjoying beautiful suburban living.

The Little Things Add Up…

Let’s start by comparing apples to apples, literally. 2 lbs of apples in “The Big Apple” is going to cost you about $3.80. Here, in Phoenix, we’re paying $3.99 for 3 lbs. We’re literally getting another pound for free. And a carton of eggs is costing you close to $4.00, while we’re paying about $1.50 on sales days and $2.00 on non-sales days. How is this possible? Many of the foods we pick up at the grocery store are farmed locally. As you shop out here, you’re supporting local businesses and saving money along the way.

Daily Expenses Are Putting You in the Poor House!

Phoenix light rail

Now, let’s chat about daily expenses. Yes, New York is known for having reasonably priced coffee, but other expenses make this savings nothing to phone home about. If you look at the cost of coffee, lunch, and the metro, you’re probably spending more than say someone in Phoenix who takes the light rail to work and enjoys a decently priced lunch.

New Yorkers are paying about $120 a month for the metro while Phoenicians are paying about $65 a month for access to the light rail. And if you’re driving a car in the city, you’re paying $2.80 a gallon for gas which is more than the $2.20 we’re paying at the pump.

Housing Shouldn’t Break the Bank!

New Yorkers, I read an article the other day stating you are paying round $2,800 to rent a 900 square foot apartment. A friend of mine who lives right down the street from ASU has a 900 square foot apartment and she’s paying only $950 a month! Instead of paying $3.11 a square foot for a place you don’t own, you could be paying as little as $1.05 a square foot. That’s literally a third of the costs. But renting shouldn’t be your goal…

save for home

Being a homeowner is one of the best investments you’ll make in your life. For $2,800 a month, you can get a sizable home here in Phoenix. I’m thinking spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with a yard and a pool. Not to mention, sunshine year round and a beautiful community close to key amenities you’ll need for everyday life. Our housing market is strong and growing, so there’s no better time to come check out your future home than right now.

Did I mention Phoenix is Booming with Jobs?

Downtown Phoenix Skyline

Saving money is a great start, but there’s more to the story than that. Phoenix has become the hub for several different job industries. Take a peek at my Phoenix blog to read about our growth in the tech sector, finance, and health care. I bet you’ll find at least one or two jobs you’ll like.

As always, I’m still dying to hear from you. We can take a look at how much you’re paying for rent and see what pretty desert houses you could be buying with that same exact monthly payment.

Call, email or text me. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
